Students who already have a fitness regimen and like a more active practice that builds strength and balance will enjoy the BROWN (active) classes at our Center.
In these classes you will flow through classical poses like Sun Salutations, Warriors, Headstands, Shoulder Stands and more. Students attending should already know modification and know how to rest when needed. Bring a hand towel – you might work up a sweat!

If you are new to yoga, please make sure you can easily do our BLUE (Hatha Yoga Basics) level classes first, or have had a private session with a BROWN level teacher to make sure you can keep up safely with the poses that will be offered. BLUE classes will teach you a variety of seated, standing and floor poses, and will allow you to learn modifications if needed so that you can move through BROWN level classes safely.
To balance your practice, mix active classes weekly with our slower, restorative classes (Pink, Purple & Green classes) that help balance the male/female energies of the body, releasing deep hidden tension that leads to disease when kept in the body.
Please remember that “fitness” is not about how you look on the outside. In yoga, fitness is a mind, body, breath, spirit practice that balances your entire life and body, and taps you into your inner bodies where your richest experiences and joys will be found.
Mixing all styles and levels, and attending special workshops on breath, philosophy and meditation will give you a well rounded yoga practice and teach you coping skills for life’s challenges outside our doors.
